There are 2 factors that affect what time stamps a customer is able to see in his/her chart window in MultiCharts:

  1. Time Zone of the chart
  2. Applied Session Settings

Time Zone of Chart

Local time is the system time of your computer, and Exchange time is the time at the location where the exchange is based as is configured in QuoteManager. If the Exchange time zone is selected in the chart settings, the time zone from the exchange's settings is used (see Editing the Exchange/ECN).

Note: it is important to make sure that your current time matches the time zone in your Windows standard clock settings.
Note: Daily-based charts, by default, are not affected by session settings. It is possible to build daily-based charts out of minute data in order to form bars based on the applied session.

Session Settings and Session Templates

In QuoteManager each symbol has its own session settings that are applied automatically once the symbol is added. There are 2 ways to set up session settings for a chart:

  1. Use default symbol session settings.
  2. Use a prebuilt or a custom session template.

Default Symbol Session Settings

To see this session settings:

  1. Make a right-click on the symbol in QuoteManager
  2. Select Edit Symbol…
  3. Go to Sessions tab.
Note: If when you create a chart, "default" is set up for sessions in chart settings, the sessions from symbol session settings from QuoteManager will be taken.

Prebuilt or Custom Session Template

When creating a chart, there is a list of prebuilt session templates that one can use: 24/7, 25/5, US Stocks (Regular Trading Hours) and so on, except for "Default". They are prebuilt in QuoteManager and can be modified or new ones can be added (see Setting Custom Session Templates).

Example: Using “24/7” session template in chart settings will give you the same effect as if you use “24/7” session templates in the symbol settings and on chart you select “default”.
