eSignal data - Going Mad. Missing current day bar. Why???

Postby kajkanjan » 13 Mar 2013

Hi All,

I am at wits end.
I just did a clean update to Multicharts 8.5 (this may not have anything to do with anything) and am trying to get my data back.

I exported all the QuoteManager Setting and imported them.
I am using eSignal data. (delayed)
I am based in Australia and stocks on the ASX

Basically now I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get ‘todays’ current data.
Everything is updating as of yesterday on charts.
It used to work fine! Plus, i imported all the old settings :(
I have re-tried ever combination under the sun in the settings to get the data.

The issue is something to do with QuoteManager and the time/date settings. I am sure.

eSignal is getting the data correctly.
If I go to the eSignal Data Manager -> File -> Symbol Monitor and type in a code (e.g. BHP-ASX) it is showing me the data as of current/today with the correct time/date info.

If however I go and add that symbol manually or via the eSignal interface to the MultiCharts QuoteManager and get data, it only ever pulls data as of yesterday, never as of today’s current date!

See all the screen shots for the setting which SHOULD work.
Am I missing something really obvious??
My PC is set to the correct time/date too

I have changed everything from the exchange & ECN, to the Session settings, to local or exchange time settings both in the QuoteManager and MultiCharts.

It is killing me!
Especially when it all worked fine.

Today's date for the screen shot examples below is 14-03-2013. As you can see, in Multicharts and QuoteManager it is only ever updating to the 13-03-2013

Sorry. One additional point.
(if it helps anything)

When I go to a chart and look at the, say, 1 minute intra-day chart ... the data is showing correctly as of today's date!?!!

When I go back to a 1 day chart, today is missing again.

Go Figure.

Also, if I add the stock to a watch list, the price on there is correct as of current/today!!!

This is seriously crazy and I have no idea what is going on.
How do I get the charts to be correct?? The data is clearly there.

I un-installed MultiCharts 8.5
I re-installed a copy of MultiCharts 8.0 (thankfully kept the download)...

Everything works straight away in version 8.0!!!!!!!
Exact same steps taken, importing all my settings or even creating securities from scratch. Everything works as you would think it should.

So much for getting excited over the new version. I am sticking to version 8!
No idea what 8.5 has changed or what it is doing to my data feed from eSingal.

Does anybody know what is going on? What have I missed, or is there some fundamental change in functionality that I need to cater for?

I'd love to use version 8.5.
But if the basic data won't wont from eSignal, I can't.

Thanks

Hello kajkanjan,

Do you have this problem only when the trading session is open?
Are you able to replicate it when the symbol is not traded?

Market trading or not trading, in 8.5 on a daily chart, the current day does not show.
again, what is weird, is that if i go to a, say, minute chart, the current data is there.

Go back to version 8, import the settings/symbols etc and it all works perfectly in minutes.
Session open or closed.

Thanks
Karl

Karl, is the time zone of your PC set to GMT+11 ?
We need to know the time zone you are using to try to replicate this behavior with the same date/time parameters you have.

The two PC's I have tried it on are the same. They are set to my local time for Sydney-Australia

(UTC +10:00) Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney

This doesn't change between installing MultiCharts 8 or 8.5

Today (19th), yesterdays daily bar (18th) is now showing. Yesterday (on the 18th) that daily bar(of the 18th) was not.

let me know anything else i can give you to help hopefully get this odd data issue solved.

Thanks again for your time and help,
Regards

I have experienced the a similar problem with eSignal in the last few days.

See if you can navigate to http://www.esignal.com from Internet Explorer. If you cant then you need to flush your DNS by running a command line with "ipconfig /flusdns". If you are running through a server then you may also need to flush the DNS on your server. Once this is complete try navigating to http://www.esignal.com again. If it's fine then your eSignal data feed should also be fine. If not please post here again.

Regards

Hello Karl,

We have setup a test PC with your timezone but were still unable to reproduce the issue in our environment.
Please come to our live chat 6.30am-1pm EST to demonstrate this problem remotely to our engineers.

Just tested fully on a couple machines and all seems to work just fine now! Data feeding through correctly and is up to date.

8.5 is fully working for me now with eSignal.

Thank you.

Great support! :) Even over a pain-in-the-neck time difference!

Always great to have a support/dev team who doesn't just assume the user is wrong haha So thanks again for the speedy fix and troubleshooting
