Update in place rather than re-install

Postby Nick » 11 Sep 2022

Was update in place (without uninstalling previous version) ever added? I'm only going from 14.0 to 14 release 4 so assume that there have been no format changes.

I'm guessing the answer is uninstall and re-install. Is there anything I need to backup apart from studies I have modified and databases? How do I save Session Templates and input parameters for studies on charts? I need to preserve study inputs way too many to write down and re-type. Can I back them up?

Thanks.

Hello Nick,

The latest version will overwrite the previous one, there's no need to uninstall the version you have.
All the user data will be saved, you can back it up just in case.

Will we still be able to revert to the previous version in case we have problems with the latest version ?

Hi sptrader,

Sure, you'll need to uninstall the current version and install the previous one.
When uninstalling, do not check the "Remove user data" box to keep it.
If you need download links for older versions, please contact us at support@multicharts.com
