I have installed MC7 and when I try to optimize be it exhaustive or genetic I immediately get an error saying 'Message: Unknown error'.
When I installed MC7 I installed over the top of the previous version as I didnt want to have to restore my data and I hope there is a fix to this apart from uninstall / reinstall otherwise I have to backup and import over 3Gbs of tick data!
When I installed MC7 I had the could not compile issue which I downloaded the exe fix from these forums also.... Not saying these issues are related but the not compile issue is supposedly related to comodo firewall which I use.

Re: MC7 errors when I try to optimize
Disabled comodo and did a repair from the install executable and still no go... Doing the repair broke the compile again and I had to run the compile fix again.

Re: MC7 errors when I try to optimize
Fixed by doing the following:
- Uninstalled MC but did not tick the option to remove MC user data such as databases and studies (was worried about having to re-import all my tick data but this option saved me).
- Rebooted
- Disabled Comodo Firewall
- Reinstalled
Still got the compile error and had to run the compile fix.
