I think it is because MC requests data from previous (expired) contracts (future ones too). See http://www.multicharts.com/discussion/v ... 15#p109018 why this is requested if it is not required for back adjustment I am not sure.

Your code only will run when there is a TRADE. There could be millions of bid ask changes and they will not be detected by your code because MC will not run it for bid ask changes.

Incidentally I am not 'trying to say' anything. Read what I wrote again and try and understand what I actually said.

Just to state the obvious if you only have one data series in your chart, only ticks in that series will cause your code to run. So for example you could have dozens of bid ask changes that you wont see in your code as there are no ticks generated (to trigger a run of your indicator) until you get a...

Re: MC 8.1

The big thing volume profile needs is to load volume to build the profile tick by tick. If you have 30 minute bars on your chart all the volume is applied to the price at 30 minute close. This is not much good for anything to be honest. As an aside The ability to have 'update on every tick for histo...

Insidebid and Insideask are not appropriate for this as they return the current value rather than the value at the time the trade occurred (that your are processing). Re: MC 7.0 Question - improvements to precision in data hand

You can add something like this to check to see if it occurs

Code: Select all

if (Ask <= Bid) then
print ("crossed, BB:", Bid, " | BA: ",Ask); // Market is crossed
As I say should never happen on a centralised exchange as it will be immediately matched and result in a trade.

Here the high low plot type is set to the widest plot to simulate a shaded range. (when will MC have shaded ranges btw?)?)

Obviously the data series absolutely must go on top in this scenario.

That is exactly the problem. MC assumes that the symbol will be on layer 0. It is quite a limitation to have to put it there. The whole point of layer ordering is to be able to bring stuff forward so it is not obscured. Price data itself is pretty important not to obscure. Lines and stuff should anc...

Re: Drawing tools attached to indicators

Drawings are snapped to whatever is placed at a zero level (closest to the background). Brining a data series to the front, forces drawings to be snapped to an indicator that now happens to be at level zero. This is how it is supposed to work. Then why have a 'ticked' layer?
