I think the MultiCharts Beta 5.0.1737.201 is even better than Official Release 4.0.1724.400.
And the pace of product development is exceeding expectations.

Hello Marina,
I must say I am impressed with the new BETA. I just downloaded it and while I haven't tried it out as yet at first blush it looks quite appealing. You got rid of the tool bar problem and the scanner is much improved visually.
If most of the bugs have been eliminated then it would seem MultiCharts may indeed start living up to it's potential. There are some suggestions about connectivity between QuoteManager and charts I would like to see as well as the Scanner and charts (being able to double click on a symbol to draw the chart). It would be wonderful to see MultiCharts become the standard for trading software. Perfection in trading software is where the software fades into the background of concerns leaving only trading decisions for the trader to think about. I sincerely hope MC is on it's way to fading into the background of concerns for all of us. Thank you.
Respectfully
Tim

I am running version 3 (release) currently. Would you guys recommend upgrading straight to 5.1 beta or to 4.0? I really just want the most stable reliable version as at the end of the day if you have problems during the trading day it tends to loose you (a lot of) money!
In the past i have had issues with early beta's and so have stayed behind the curve. How is performance? (I don't mean back testing just loading and displaying charts).
No glitches or wierd behaviour so far with 5.1?

Nick,
I am happy with Beta 5.0.1737.201 and recommend it (as the best MultiCharts yet) rather than the Official Release 4.0.1724.400.
However, it would be advisable to check it out thoroughly on a second computer to see you also like it before you decide to stop using your currently preferred version.

I am sorry to report, the volume bars are NOT correct.
this morning's ES (20081028):
MC5b1 with IB datafeed
9:35 -- 11,051
9:40 -- 10,740
9:45 -- 9,824
9:50 -- 9,891
9:55 -- 9,383
10:00 -- 7,609
10:05 -- 10,003
10:10 -- 11,174
from IB chart
9:35 -- 59,729
9:40 -- 51,542
9:45 -- 39,475
9:50 -- 67,700
9:55 -- 41,391
10:00 -- 31,084
10:05 -- 83,638
10:10 -- 58,908
I believe MC is only recording the up tick...
I have talked to other MC users, this problem is not confined to people using IB datafeed.
p.s. I might have to go back to MC4b1440 because that is the last one I have good experience with.
p.s. this problem is a receiving/storing issue...
I have reverted to v4b14440, the ES chart's volume is showing exactly as it was in v5b1 and v4or.
after i reloaded the chart, the volume looks fine. i.e. ib is supplying the data with no problem.

Guess I'll hang on a day or two to see if this gets a hotfix. I guess it will as accurately retrieving, storing, and displaying data is a pretty fundamental and crucial cornerstone. Without this foundation more advanced features are redundant. (Yeah I know I keep saying that )
Thanks for the headsup.
Khalid do you use MC to trade each day or more as a research tool? Just wondering if you are likely to use the same features as I do and so run into similar issues

Hello Tim,It appears as though my comments were premature. The scanner doesn't show the data for all symbols. It fills in the data for some symbols and neglects the other symbols. Hopefully this is a glitch or a problem on my end because most of us truly want an end to all the bugs.
Respectfully,
Tim
What data is skipped in the scanner? What are the symbols and their provider? Do you have any values shown for those symbols or no values at all, not for a single indicator in the scanner?
Thank you for the clarifications.
Best regards.

Hello Marina,
There are too many symbols to list. My provider is DTN and it works fine with AB"s scanner. There is no data at all for some symbols and either it is updating extremely slow or there is a bigger problem. Also the scanner doesn't save my studies and I have to re-input them each day.
I saw the connection to the charts, well done. Perhaps once you have everything resolved you could allow a double click for the chart selection. It is just a way to make it simpler and more direct. Thank you.
Warmest regards,
Tim

Do you think you could contact us via LiveChat to show the data problem in the scanner to our engineers?
Thank you!
