Hi,
I am new to MC and I searched on the subject before posting this one.
Quick question.
Studies seem to not work with second bars. i.e 10 or even 30 sec timeframes. Why is that?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Studies
Is the data on your chart fully loaded? Can you see "Backfilling" in the status line of the chart (make sure it is enabled in Format->Window->Status line)?

Who is your data supplier?Hi,

How far back history are you loading?
It is possible you do not have enough historic tick data in your database, and MultiCharts is trying to load the data from your provider. If your provider has limited back history, or if your data is throttled (eg InteractiveBrokers), then you will see "Backfilling..." at the top left corner of the chart. The chart will start calculating the indicator only when the data is loaded. You can try a shorter back history to see if it makes a difference.
Re: Studies not work with second bars
Hi,
thank you both for your kind replies, they helped me understanding the issue.
It has to do with the data feed, in this case Int. Broker.
Settings are correct in terms of Backfilling but with IB, if I use a back histrory bigger than 40 days than the calculation becomes too complex and the study never appears.
Different with IQFEED where I can use history up to 500 days with no problem.
Interesting!
See screenshot of the two charts.
TO TJ: What does it mean that IB data are "throttoled"?
Thank you very much for your support

Re: Studies not work with second bars [SOLVED]
Pennino,
your IB chart is backfilling data. See TJs reply:
There is no such limitation with IQFeed. You can get 8 calendar days within session hours, 120 days in non-session hours of tick data from IQFeed.
So the indicator will be calculated on your IB chart once all data you have requested is loaded.
You can request less historical tick data for your IB chart, or restart TWS/Gateway each time you have a pacing violation error in Event Log until all data is backfilled.

IB has a limitation for the amount of historical data it can return per request. If you go to MultiCharts->File->New->QuoteManager window most probably you will see Pacing Violation error in the Event Log. Here is an explanation for it.It is possible you do not have enough historic tick data in your database, and MultiCharts is trying to load the data from your provider.
