Kate,

How about what is the best way to export all the historical data and create a new database and reimport the data back ?

Currently it is not possible to compress our databases.
Since MC uses a firebird database, can't users find our own solutions to this ?

Is the database password protected ? If it is , can we have the password to access it ?

thanks

You can export data of the required symbols in ascii files, then you should delete TSStorage GDB, run MultiCharts installer and select Repair option to create a new TSStorage file and after that you will need to import data from the ascii files into QuoteManager. It's really a time-consuming procedure.

Kate- in the same general theme as the first post in this topic can you explain exactly which file-s would have to be deleted in order to 'clean out the entire historical data base, and yet keep the symbols intact in the Quotemanager, so that when restarting or fixing MC there would be a clean data base started, and the symbols in Quotemanager would again request historical data from 'IB' to populate the data base?

In actuality, I am seeking to keep just the past 7 days of tick/volume/minute data for a dozen or so futures symbols on a perpetual basis.

Thanks
