Managing data

Exporting Data

One can export data from one, several selected or all symbols into an ASCII or QMD file via File -> Export Data or by right-clicking the symbol -> Export Data
See the Exporting Data page for more info.

Importing Data

One can import data into a symbol from an ASCII or QMD file via File -> Import Data or by right-clicking the symbol -> Import Data
See the Importing Data page for more info.

Importing Symbol List

A text file that contains a list of symbols and their parameters can be imported instead of adding symbols one by one.
To import a symbol list, go to File -> Import Symbol List.
See the Import Symbol List page for more info.

Mapping ASCII

This tool can be used to indicate the path to a file populated with data. That will allow the program to find the file automatically, convert it into the necessary format based on the preset configuration and display the data every time a chart is created.
To use this tool, go to File -> Map ASCII
See the Mapping ASCII page for more info.

Deleting Data

Select the symbol and go Edit -> Delete Data.
Check the corresponding boxes to clear data for certain Quote Field and Resolution.
Click Check All to select all the checkboxes.

Clearing Cache

Cache stores data downloaded from the data feed server until it is saved to the local database after all MultiCharts processes are restarted or the Flush Cached Data to Database option is used.
To clear the cache, select the symbol and go Edit -> Clear Cache.
See the Data Cache page for more info.

Editing Data

To manually adjust data stored in the database, select the symbol and go Edit -> Edit Data.
Set the Data Settings by selecting the required Resolution, Field and Time Zone from the dropdown boxes.
Set the required Data Range using the Start and End fields.
Click Load to display the data that conforms to the set parameters in the Data field.

Each parameter can be adjusted by clicking on the corresponding lot.
Click Add to add another data line at the end of the list.
Click Insert to add another data line below the selected one.
Click Delete to erase the selected data line.
Click Find to look for the data line with the specified parameter.
Click Select All to select all available data lines.
Click Copy to copy the values in the selected data line.

See the Editing Data page for more info.

Flushing Cached Data to Database

Save the cached data to the database on demand without closing down all the platform processes via Edit -> Flush Cached Data to Database
