Hi everyone,
I am doing automated trading using MultiCharts64 Version 8.8 Release (Build 9189). My system is designed to send out email alerts for various reasons. The alerts were working fine until I started to get the attached error message for no apparent reason. I haven't changed the SMTP or any other settings. I am using gmail with following settings:
SMTP server (i.e., outgoing mail): smtp.gmail.com
SMTP port: 465
SMTP TLS/SSL required: yes
It'd be much appreciated if anybody could shed some light on this. Thanks!

Re: Error while trying to send email alert
Further information on the above.
My colleague and I are both facing this same problem and getting the same message. We were both using Gmail as outgoing smtp. We both switched to Yahoo & its working fine.
Can somebody please shed some light on why its happening in case of Gmail? I had been using gmail for several months for this feature and never faced this until yesterday.
Cheers!

Re: Error while trying to send email alert
Can we please have a little more information around the issue? Why is this not working for gmail any more but is for yahoo? Are there are other email providers alerting will and will not work with? The issue will be fixed in MultiCharts 9.0 Release. Thank you for reporting it and thank you for understanding.

Unfortunately at the moment we cannot provide you with the details. So far we have received only gmail-related issue reports. Can we please have a little more information around the issue? Why is this not working for gmail any more but is for yahoo? Are there are other email providers alerting will and will not work with?

Re: Error while trying to send email alert
Could you specify the domain, please?I just opened a outlook email account and can't send alerts from that either.
Does anyone have an outlook account and can send alerts to it?

Re: Error while trying to send email alert
The domains hotmail.com and outlook.com are not supported. They use MAPI, while MC supports SMTP only.

From the Microsoft website:The domains hotmail.com and outlook.com are not supported. They use MAPI, while MC supports SMTP only.
Source.Outgoing (SMTP) Server
Server address: smtp-mail.outlook.com
Port: 25 (or 587 if 25 is blocked)
Authentication: Yes
Encrypted Connection: TLS
User name: Your email address
Password: Your password
That website is not dated so it might not be relevant any more, but it might be worth trying for those that use Outlook.

Re: Error while trying to send email alert
Hello Champski,I'm curious as to why this particular issue appeared without an update to the client. Are you able to provide details of the issue?
Email services providers have changed their server protocols.

Re: Error while trying to send email alert
Ironic that my message is apparently overlooked given that it fully works:From the Microsoft website:The domains hotmail.com and outlook.com are not supported. They use MAPI, while MC supports SMTP only.Source.Outgoing (SMTP) Server
Server address: smtp-mail.outlook.com
Port: 25 (or 587 if 25 is blocked)

Password: Your password

Indicator:
Code: Select all
once (LastBarOnChart_s = true) begin
Alert(Text(FormatTime("HH:mm:ss", ComputerDateTime),
" - MultiCharts alert"));
end;
This is with the same MC version that you guys report the problems with (more specifically, version: MultiCharts64 Version 8.8 Release (Build 8967)).
