MC Team - I have tried to use the tick-by-tick replay of MC but noticed, it doesn't appear like it's a true 1 tick replay ( you can check the counter in this video as it increments many ticks ( though I have 1 tick replay selected)
http://screencast.com/t/Smo9chi1vq - 1 tick selected for replay
http://screencast.com/t/5eIPcQiBA - Watch the price/ticks - it forwards more than 1 tick
Is this the expected behavior?
thanks
MC 9.1 - tick-by-tick replay - not forwarding a tick [SOLVED]
Re: MC 9.1 - tick-by-tick replay - not forwarding a tick
Speed is set by adjusting "updates per second." I use replay a bit as well and notice the same as you point out. If you slow it down as much as possible you may get one tick updates, but it may also be too slow depending on what instrument you want to replay.
Re: MC 9.1 - tick-by-tick replay - not forwarding a tick
Tony - Where is this setting - updates / second located ?
I would imagine forward one tick, I would expect just 1 tick to be forwarded. At least I was under this impression.
Thanks

Re: MC 9.1 - tick-by-tick replay - not forwarding a tick
Just to the right of the right arrow you can click to advance replay one step at a time is a horizontal bar that you can adjust left or right. As you move it to the right it speeds up, to the left it slows down. Try moving all the way to the left, the slowest speed, and see if you get one tick resolution per update.
Re: MC 9.1 - tick-by-tick replay - not forwarding a tick
Thanks Tony.
I made it all the way to left side (1 update every 10 seconds) but still the forward 1 tick would move several ticks.
Technically - The slider(updates/second) shouldn't have a bearing when forward 1 tick is used. It should play a role during the "continuous play" mode.
I certainly think the current forward 1 tick is a bug.
Thanks

Re: MC 9.1 - tick-by-tick replay - not forwarding a tick
Can it be that data replay skips identical ticks? Perhaps I'm mistaken, but if I look at the second video it doesn't seem that the price moves more than 1 tick (although the contracts traded are more than one 'tick').MC Team - I have tried to use the tick-by-tick replay of MC but noticed, it doesn't appear like it's a true 1 tick replay ( you can check the counter in this video as it increments many ticks ( though I have 1 tick replay selected)

From what I observed when comparing real-time data with data replay mode, the replay mode skips identical ticks (just like the 'skip identical ticks' option of indicators), although I never got that confirmed from MultiCharts Support -- so I might be totally off here.
Re: MC 9.1 - tick-by-tick replay - not forwarding a tick [SOLVED]
joshM - thanks for the reply.
I think you are right. That could be happening here.
As there is no T&S reply during playback, it would be hard to confirm what could be happening here..
- tick counter - built-in study and don't think we can turn off skip identical ticks
- for volume - I tried to uncheck skip identical ticks option, but this didn't change the behavior
- for price - there is no option to skip identical ticks
Just to isolate - I tried with a different feed (OEC) and the behavior is same ( skips few ticks, but the price change doesn't go beyond 0.25 (ticksize)).
Hopefully MC team clarifies what could be happening.
Thanks

The support team gets inundated with support requests, including often spending an hour plus on the phone with one user working through problems. If you need help, I suggest emailing them versus relying on the forum at times. They may not always have the same urgency on the forum that users may, whereas if you contact them, you move right up into the queue.

Hello vking,
Please go to Format tab->Data playback->disable the option "Skip ticks with identical price".
Then run the data playback.

Re: MC 9.1 - tick-by-tick replay - not forwarding a tick
Henry - It works fine as expected now.
Appreciate the reply. Some how missed that option in playback mode. ( I think Josh mentioned the same earlier but some how missed that navigation path).
Haven't been actively using MC lately as waiting for the new BT engine to be implemented (it's been few years wait on that already).
thanks
