Stop Limit, offset:

Postby smuir » 22 Mar 2024

In a STP LMT order, what does a positive offset number mean in Multicharts, how does Multicharts handle a negative number (e.g. -2)
Specifically Master Strategy... more parameters.

Thank you

Hello smuir,

Stop Limit order includes a Stop-trigger and a Limit order.
When a negative offset is used, the Limit order level just gets offset in opposite direction.

You can check it by using a regular manual Stop Limit order. The Stop Limit Offset can be set by right-clicking the chart trading panel → Format Chart Trading → in General Settings tab.
After that you can place an order using Paper Trader or Simulated Trading mode and monitor how the Limit is offset in relation to Stop in the Order and Position Tracker.

It works the same for Master Strategies.
