In MC for Interactive Brokers, 3 line break charts, time frame 5 minute, when I select a moving average 200 period I get it correctly (solid red).
If I displace that 10 periods (-10), I also get it correct (dot red line)
However if I displace it 50 periods (-50) I get nothing and an erros message. Why is that ? Is there any limit of periods to which we can displace a moving average ?

Hello Automeq,
If you want to displace the plot 50 bars forward then you need to have at least 51 bars Chart Shift in Format-> Window-> X-Time scale.

Re: Error displacing mov average in MC TWS
Not sure what or if you mean works.
For example, if I insert a mov average 200, displaced by -200, I get the error (image 4)
Going to X-Axe settings I can insert 1000% (ou 10000% ou 1 million % but it allways turn to a maximum of 100%, obviously) - image 3
I have 500 days back loaded. IB only loads about 120 but it's 5 minutes time frame so I have several thousand bars (image 5).
If I insert a moving average 200, without displace, I get it correct which means I have more that enough bars to calculate moving average (image 6).
So I was wondering if software limits the displace number.
BTW, is there any way of inserting more than an attachment in a post ?

Re: Error displacing mov average in MC TWS
If you displace with a negative value, the line will be plotted towards the future (where there aren't any bars yet). That's why Henry says you'll need to have enough bars into the future with the 'Chart Shift' setting. Otherwise the line cannot be plotted on those future price bars. Not sure what or if you mean works.

Have you tried using an absolute bar number by the way? (Click on the '%' sign in the 'Format Window' screen to toggle between a percentage and an absolute amount of bars).
Add the image to the post and then click 'Preview'. Then add the second image to the post, and so on.BTW, is there any way of inserting more than an attachment in a post ?

Ouch... never notice that we could chose between % and absolute value.Have you tried using an absolute bar number by the way? (Click on the '%' sign in the 'Format Window' screen to toggle between a percentage and an absolute amount of bars).
Worked marvilous and was so simples. Many thanks for the help Josh.
