Hi,
Under Format Study/ Scaling there is a new "Same As Instrument" range. I can't find a definition for it.

Re: 8.8 beta 2 Format/Scaling/Same as Instrument
That means the indicator's plots will be drawn on the instrument's scale.Hi,
Under Format Study/ Scaling there is a new "Same As Instrument" range. I can't find a definition for it.
This is the preferred choice for most indicators that plots on the same subchart as the instrument.

Re: 8.8 beta 2 Format/Scaling/Same as Instrument
That's what I thought the "Entire Series" did. I'm still not clear what the difference between them is. And if this is the preferred indicator scaling choice why is it new to 8.8?

This is not new, this option has been there since day one. That's what I thought the "Entire Series" did. I'm still not clear what the difference between them is. And if this is the preferred indicator scaling choice why is it new to 8.8?

Re: 8.8 beta 2 Format/Scaling/Same as Instrument [SOLVED]
Hmmmm, I only recall having these choices prior to 8.8 beta:
Screen
Entire Series
User Defined
Movement Size
Price Range
https://www.multicharts.com/trading-sof ... rt_Scaling
It seems Price Range was replaced with "Same As Instrument" at some point. In either case, "Same as Instrument" is the way to go. Thanks.

Your link is for "Chart Scaling"; it is different from Indicator Scaling you referred to in post #1.Hmmmm, I only recall having these choices prior to 8.8 beta:

User Defined
Movement Size
Price Range

Chart scale is the instrument scale, that's why there is no selection for "Same as Instrument".
Re: 8.8 beta 2 Format/Scaling/Same as Instrument
Did this new Chart Scale create a better way to have multiple symbols scaled the same? I'm running 8.7 and highly dislike having two symbols on the same chart because they don't align with one another.

There is no "new Chart Scale". Please attach a screenshot demonstrating the behavior you are referring to.Did this new Chart Scale create a better way to have multiple symbols scaled the same? Please watch this brief clip for my example.

I won't post a clip of a MC competitor, but they seem to have nailed this down. By default if another data series is placed on the chart, they align on the x and y axis. It's surprising because there's not many things that they do better!

What if you set both data series scaling to "Screen" in Format->Instrument->Scaling?Please watch this brief clip for my example.

Re: 8.8 beta 2 Format/Scaling/Same as Instrument
It'd be great if this was changed so that all data streams worked on the time and price axis, had their most recent prices updated on the price axis, and (this one is a big one) were all tradable from one chart.

MAtricks, please attach the workspace you are using and specify the exact version and build number of MultiCharts you are running (in MultiCharts go to Help tab-> About).
Re: 8.8 beta 2 Format/Scaling/Same as Instrument
Henry,
This behavior within the scaling of multiple symbols has been here since I started in MC 6. I'm currently running 8.7 7631 release and 8.8 RC 8231. I've seen others post about it as well.
To duplicate this behavior, find two instruments that are similar in price, but not identical. Then scroll through the chart and pay attention to data2 floating on no axis.
The issue is that data2/data3/data4 .. do not have a price axis. They just plot on a scale set by the screen size (??). If we were able to select the price axis for all symbols on the chart, this would be fixed Much like a competitor did:
As you requested, I'll place the workspace here. Please use the symbols I've given and scroll back to 8/26/2013 for the most dramatic example.

MAtricks,
Please disable the option "Overlay data series" in Format->Instrument->Scaling for both data series.
