Re: MultiCharts 7.1 Printer-friendly Manual (.PDF format)
A simple "updated help file" like a freeware or a cheap shareware ?? Is it a joke ??We are going to release the updated help file in the new year.
MultiCharts deserves a SERIOUS PROFESSIONAL PRINTABLE MANUAL not an AMATEUR NOT printable HELP FILE
You want people to vote for MultiCharts for the "Best PROFESSIONAL Trading Platform", right?

Re: MultiCharts 7.1 Printer-friendly Manual (.PDF format)
We have two versions of the manual:A simple "updated help file" like a freeware or a cheap shareware ?? Is it a joke ??We are going to release the updated help file in the new year.

1) a printer friendly pdf file (https://www.multicharts.com/downloads/t ... charts.pdf)
2) a chm help file built-in software (in MultiCharts->Help tab->MultiCharts help or press F1).
Both versions will receive the update.

Re: MultiCharts 7.4 Printer-friendly Manual (.PDF format)
MultiCharts User Manual will be updated in the nearest future.
We understand that this aspect is very important for our customers.
Manual Trading, Custom Futures and other sections of the Manual are in the works at the moment.
Understanding the importance of tutorials and documentation we have updated PowerLanguage Keyword Reference and added new videos on how to connect different brokers and data feeds.
More videos as well as new documentation are coming early 2012.

We are currently transferring MultiCharts User Manual into the Wiki format as well as adding new sections to the Manual itself. The transfer will be completed soon.
Re: MultiCharts 7.4 Printer-friendly Manual (.PDF format)
My current plan is to stop by the MultiCharts booth at the NY Trader's Expo and ask about the documentation. I'll ask some friends to stop by and ask as well. Simple questions like " It looks like a great product, but I was told your user manual and help file are from Version 5 and are way out of date. Is that really true? Are any of the new features documented in the Manual ?" Or "That DOM looks pretty neat. Would you show me how to access the Help file info on it?"
Just joking of course. And even if I wasn't, the Trader's Expo is three weeks in the future, so there is lots of time to get the documentation done by then.

JackR,
We are working on the new MultiCharts Wiki at the moment, it should be ready shortly. It will contain the updated version of User Manual and the users will be able to create the content as well.

Re: MultiCharts 7.4 Printer-friendly Manual (.PDF format)
JackR,What about the Help? Is it scheduled for the same release time or a future date?
PDF User Manual will be updated after we launch MultiCharts wiki. It will be the next stage of the documentation update. As for .chm Help file, it won't be supported anymore except for the context help in PowerLanguage Editor.
Re: MultiCharts 7.4 Printer-friendly Manual (.PDF format)
Dave:
So will the Wiki be released concurrent with the MC 8 public beta? Or will the available documentation remain at the 5.5 level?
It is difficult to recommend a very expensive software tool when you have to tell people that the documentation is obsolete in many instances, flat wrong in others, and missing altogether insofar as new features are concerned.
The on-line live help is great for solving problems, but not for learning about features. You have to know they exist. The videos are nice, but are often incomplete. The forum requires using the "right" search term, or it too is useless.

Henry:JackR,
What aspects of connection video guides do you consider incomplete?
I have been connected for quite some time and those videos were not available when I first started using MC so I've never looked at them before. I did a quick scan of them and they basically seem to cover Quote Manager.
But there is virtually nothing on the new capabilities that were added after Version 5/6. For example, there are no guides (or documentation) on how to setup features that are available within the DOM, like the strategies, etc.

Thank you for your suggestion.
We understand the necessity of video guides for our users.
Video tutorials on the platform features will be created after all connection video guides are published.
MultiCharts webinars are also a good source of educational information about the platform utilization.

Henry,JackR,
MultiCharts Wiki will contain the updated version of User Manual.
PDF User Manual will be updated after we launch MultiCharts Wiki.
It's been almost one year since you told us (on the 15th Feb 2012 - see above) that the "PDF User Manual will be updated after we launch MultiCharts Wiki". The Wiki is available for quite some time now, is there anything printable I can read? (except printing page after page the Wiki!!!).
I guess many of your clients like me need to seriously understand MultiCharts since it is supposed to be a professional software. The cost of MultiCharts alone justify the need of such professional material.
Where are we now????
спасибо,
Christian

C:\Program Files\TS Support\MultiCharts64
you will find the MultiCharts User Guide.
The filename is MultiCharts64.chm (or Compiled HTML Help File)
You can print out the whole user guide from there.
It is not the promised PDF, but I hope it helps.

Re: MultiCharts 7.4 Printer-friendly Manual (.PDF format)
Hello Christian,
Our manual is up to modern standards. A year ago we have transitioned to the online help format. Entire MultiCharts help has been moved to MultiCharts Wiki, so it can be quickly updated and accessible from anywhere. Printable manuals are much less flexible and, furthermore, are not environmentally friendly, so we do not provide one anymore. You can always print any Wiki article if you need a paper version.
