I was upgrading a backup machine to MC version 7.4.4953.0 and got the error message:
'Could not set the file security for c:\.....\Databases' Error: 5. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to modify the security permissions for this file.
My user has administrative privileges so this is surprising.
I've tried all sorts of setting of permissions to allow it but no joy.
Can you just give me a recipe for forcing the permissions to allow this?
Thank you.

Possibly your antivirus or firewall is blocking installation. Try turning them off and try again..

Thank you for the suggestion.
This is a virtual machine that is bare bones and has no anti-virus installed.
It is Windows XP Professional with as little installed to support MC as possible.

Hello Jek,
Please restart your computer and make sure no applications are using the databases folder.
If you are still unable to install the update please go to the following folder:
%allusersprofile%\TS %allusersprofile%\Application Data\TS Support
Paste this line in Start --> Run and in the window that will pop make a right click on the MultiCharts folder. Go to Properties->Security->Advanced->Owner->Make your user account the current owner and check "replace owner on subcontainers and owners"->Click Apply.
Make sure your user account has full control on the Security tab.
Please try to install the new version now.
