Hi.
I regret to report that in MC 8.5 Release it does not seem possible to perform a Sequential Optimization via Checkboxes as described by the use case written of here:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12109#p58821
Am I somehow mistaken? If so, I would really appreciate a short video showing it working correctly, as it does not work correctly for me here in my testing so far.

Re: Sequential Optimization via Checkboxes
Hello MC_Prog,
From my undertanding of your case:
Add a strategy with two inputs. Defaults: Input #1=20, Input #2=30.
Go to Optimization and check Input #1. Input #2 is unchecked.
Get Input #1 optimized, select the best result and assign Current value=15.
Uncheck Input#1, check Input #2.
Get Input #2 optimized, select the best and assign Current value=25.
In the meantime Input #1 is reset to its default value=20.
Are you referring to such case?

That's right.Hello MC_Prog,

Once you've got that Current Value at 15 (in your example) and you uncheck the box, the value should stay at 15 for future calcs/optimizations (unless the user changes it).
My observation is that the 2nd optimization is not being done with Input #1=15. I'm observing often that 2nd opt does not even include that initially selected result anywhere in the 2nd opt results list (when it should).

Here is a demo video (similar to the discussion above):

Re: Sequential Optimization via Checkboxes
How can it be possible, when you have a chart with many trades on it, to go into the optimizer and optimize a single parameter across a small range (which range includes the existing setting) and get an optimization report where every iteration reports 0 trades?

I agree with what you say in the video and it should keep the value of 10 (and not go back to the default). The current behavior defeats the purpose and needs to be changed, otherwise it's useless to have the ability to uncheck parameters for the optimization.
As a workaround you need to set the start and end value to the current value and leave the parameter checked and it will keep the 10 in your example. But when doing a lot of optimizations or working with a couple of parameters, this will become pretty annoying.

Re: Sequential Optimization via Checkboxes
I was hoping to see MC "V8.5 release" remembering the last entered input values for optimizations but regretfully, they always return to default values, after the slightest change in the code, very annoying and time consuming..
* Please SAVE the last entered values (example: optimization range 10-30 by 5 etc..) even after code changes to the strategy..

Dear users,
This issue has been confirmed. It will be fixed in the next version of MultiCharts.

This issue has been fixed in the current builds of MultiCharts 8.5 Release:
8.5.6777 (32 bit)
8.5.6778 (64 bit)
8.5.6777 (32 bit)
8.5.6778 (64 bit)
Re: Sequential Optimization via Checkboxes
I am still observing (in 8.5.6777) that after unchecking one or more boxes with the goal of "locking down" one or more parameters after a first optimization pass, a further optimization across still-checked parameters does not include the prior result in the new results. This issue has been fixed in the current builds of MultiCharts 8.5 Release:
