Description

The best way to use this type of TPO study, in my opinion, is alongside the Volume Profile(VP) study, by superimposing TPO on Volume Profile (see attached image) .
In this example the VP study is looking back over 13 weeks (Time>Last =  13 weeks) and the Format Instrument>Settings>Data Range = 100 days back.
Obviously it would be even better to set VP to look back over 52 weeks or more since the
support/resistance levels revealed would be even stronger..
However because the TPO study uses the Format Instrument>Settings>Data Range = 100 days back setting to build the TPOs', it takes several minutes for the TPO studies to be loaded and built, even with my computer which has a Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2687W @ 3.10GHz, 3101 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)!
Imagine how long it would take someone using a standard desktop to load the TPO studies if
the Data Range was set to 100 days or more.
To solve this problem,
I believe that the TPO study should have its own Format TPO>Settings>Data Range which may be set independently from the Format Instrument>Settings>Data Range,
because when using VP together with TPO, the TPO study really only needs to display the current day or, if using a main data series resolution less than 1440 minutes (ie. daily), then the TPO study really only needs to display the current bar, although some users may want to
see more than one TPO bar displayed.

Steps to reproduce this issue

Format Instrument>Volume Profile: Delta, Ask vs Bid traded, Ticks per row = 8, Time>Last = 13 weeks, Alignment = Left.
Format Instrument>Instrument: Data source = Tradestation, Instrument = @FDAX.
Format Instrument>Settings: Regular chart type, Resolution = 1440 minutes, Data range = 100 days back.
Format study>TPO: TicksRoundUp = 8, UnderlyingResolution = Minute, Profile Type = Alphas, TPO_Step_In_Minutes = 36, IBR_Time_In_Minutes = 72, LayerForDraw = Final.

Dear Users! Since MultiCharts 12 there's a TPO chart type available, and it's possible to enable the Volume Profile for it. TPO: https://www.multicharts.com/trading-software/index.php?title=TPO Volume Profile: https://www.multicharts.com/trading-software/index.php?title=Volume_Profile
