Description

Currently, when MultiCharts loses internet connectivity or the connection to the real-time data provider, the chart does not gets reloaded when the connection is restored. This not only messes up indicators and gives gaps in the chart, but also can trigger orders when automated trading is on.

Since MultiCharts is already an advanced automated trading platform, and now the manual traders are provided with advanced chart trading, it would make sense to expand MultiCharts by adding this important feature for automated traders.

This problem can be relatively easily solved by letting MultiCharts reload the data between the last tick, and the time the connection is re-established, as soon as the connection is up and running again (which already is registered in the QuoteManager).

Edit July 22:

An added benefit of not having to manually perform a reload of the chart data, but have MultiCharts only fill in the missing data, would be that the TickID for the other data stays preserved.

Now, when reloading the chart to fill in the missing data, the TickID for the whole chart time period gets erased. For active traders, who would like to use the power of TickID accurate event processing, a small data gap would lead to an even greater loss of TickID data.

I have a lot of issues trying to reload ascii data that comes from CSI;
It would help alot if you could have the Reload data feature as a reserved word.

I also have experienced the same problem. The only solution I know at the moment is to display each symbol and reload the last days. For few symbols, it may be ok, considering you have noticed the missing bars, which may not be so obvious... But if you have 50 to 100 symbols, how can you do it ?
I suggest that this feature may be automatically applied on all connected symbols in Quote Manager.
Thank you.
Best regards.

Just to help :
typing ".rld glob" in the command line reloads all the data for all charts.

This feature request is 'Under Review' for 9 months already. It's not even yet 'Confirmed', which would mean, as I understand it, that there hasn't been decided yet whether or not to this feature will someday will be implemented.

Any updates regarding this important feature?

I'll never understand why something so obvious never was featured in MC right from the begining. Being a complete trading platform it's unbelievable not having any type of alert when a connection is broken, being the internet connection, the broker or the data feed.
One of the advantages of programs such as IRT or Sierra it's their ability to reconnect automatically and download all missed data. The user don't need to move a finger because he knows that its data is always up to date. If for some reason you're not in the office for a couple of hours but your computer is on and collecting data, if there's some sort of connection cut you'll have a blank space in your chart by the time you arrive home.
I see that version 9 is still a bit stripped from features. This one should be number one on your list for version 9.

A related request is to get access from PL or C# to the menu function View->Reload->x days back.

We have decided to expand MultiCharts by adding full access to command line functionality from the code. That includes not only reloading of data, but other command line features as well such as changing chart symbol and resolution, etc.
